The implied meaning of "keep the guys away from [X]" is "there are bad people who will attempt to take advantage of [X]'s naivety, and you should try to protect [X] from those people". I think it's a very weak case to try and paint that as actively suggesting to prevent the girl in question from making her own decisions.

There's reinforcement of unequal gender roles which are implicit in the way the statement is constructed, so if that's your point then fine, but the most direct meaning here is closer to what FD said.
