Now, I'm sure plenty of kids bawled their eyes out upon seeing their childhood Pokemon catching hero Ash Ketchum become petrified by the Grey Gargoyle, and there's nothing wrong with that. This doesn't change the fact that it is horrendously corny how a bunch of crying Pokemon bring someone back from the dead. They might as well be sprinkling magic fairy dust over Ash's body. Despite the waterworks, there isn't much tension or gravitas to this thing at all. Pokemon still needs its main protagonist after all. Ash gets revived lickety-split, and I feel nothing. --- Listen, suffering is a fact of life.
