Personally the only way Bell isn't worthy to me is if you're having a hardline stance on players who had stats prior to the game starting. If you are setting Bell as the benchmark you are essentially asking a player to average 1000+ rushing yard / 10+ TDs a season for 12 seasons to get consideration.

How many players in the league have as many yards as Bell? How many can potentially pass his yard/TD totals? I feel the answer to that has to be pretty low (3? 4?) as we don't get many year 1 starters at RB and RB is such a high attrition position that the players who can reach those numbers get curtailed by injuries.

I think KCF gave us a list of names who had a shot at Emmitt Smith's record maybe last season and the list was incredibly small and needed significant luck. Jacquizz Rodgers was the main candidate I think.
