Most of Smeargle's stats don't matter so if you get bad Moody rolls you just play normally. Smeargle is still perfectly viable even without good Moody boosts. If you hit +Speed, Smeargle is now a high speed Pokemon with access to Spore (sometimes Lovely Kiss to hit Grass types). If you hit +Evade, you can try to evade tank via Follow Me or get unpunished Spores. In Singles, I believe it is considered too easy to farm boosts with Protect and Sub. It's always possible you just get bad boosts anyways but you probably get something useful. The boosts can also be Baton Pass'd to start a sweep. --- Link isn't the only one who kicks ass.
