In the Final
Fire Emblem
The Last Duel

I-just-realized-why-these-songs-were-chosen-today day. Also anti-hype day.

Match 1:

-Ah... Nothing like a good rendition of the original Halo theme. Sure, it lacks punch and depth, but... Okay, I'll admit the piano and the beat are not really helping it much since they make it sound way cheesier (it was the perfect opportunity to enhance it with more epicality, especially since this is Halo 3 we're talking about), but it still has good things going for it.

-I've talked about In the Final in the past with more detail (particularly in the first round of the contest), but I don't remember much, other than saying this sounds so dramatical, but in a good way. And... yeah, that's pretty much it.

Match 2:

-Upon listening to End of All (Land), I gotta admit I miss the earlier rounds when we had a wide array of quality songs throughout, but this contest I think we destroyed the opportunity to have a super awesome set of retirees. I know you can't have an ideal world (that was proven two matches ago), but overall I was a little underwhelmed with the average quality of this contest's songs in comparison to last year's beasts. Ironically enough, I'm not saying all of this because End of All (Land) is great (it wasn't as good as other rivals it had), but it was good enough this time to remember me about what I'm just saying. The semi-drumrolls it has are glorious, though.

-As for this Mass Effect song, I thought it was the awesome one with a melancholic piano and an ominous loud sound similar to a boat's whistle that gave you the idea of "everything is doomed now"... But no. This is an okay song (I'm not much into slow songs). The ending also had me like: "...Huh? What now? Why did it get so loud and vanished just like that?".

Match 3:

-I remember this song from way back in the VGMotD's days. It's an interesting chiptune with bold choices; however, I rank it low not because of its execution but because it's not my personal cup of tea. It's also a song that makes me say: "Hey, that sounds pretty passionate for a song with suspensive dots and a question mark for what it's actually asking!".

-"Um... Generic SNES RPG caution theme?". Yes at first, but it then develops into a more fleshed-out, adventurous tune, so it's not bad.

Rankings were rather easy this time around since every match was in itself easy (it was also pretty average, like a Round 1 day or something):

This Is the End (of the Land) > It's Time [for the] Last D-D-D-Duel! > Mamma Mia, the Final Is Coming! > (In Chief's voice [if he has one]:) Care For a Cheesy, Final Piano Lesson? >> It's the Final Countdown... >> Yeah But This Is the End (Once and For All)
