Ok, I'm gonna be a bit controversial here, but I have never had a problem with that.

I think we should make money off this opportunity!!!

What? Does that sound horrible? Seriously it's not.

Step 1: Purchase land on the other side of the border. A decent amount. Would have really made sense to do this along time ago when it was really cheap, but whatever.

Step 2: Create mini cities on that side of the border for people to live in, and attempt to become US citizens (legally). Part of the jobs there (covered by people from both sides) would be patrolling and prevent illegal crossings.

Step 3: Any people who are found illegally in the US are sent (together with their family...not seperated at any point) to these cities. If they leave and re-enter the us, they are put in a more "secure" city on the other side of the border (Basically a low security prison that ensures they don't leave).

In all cities they can work like normal, they can make money, buy homes, build a life/family, have access to the internet, movies, food, most of the things you get in the US (Including free schools and food for the children).

Meanwhile they pay "taxes", not to the us, but to support the cost of the cities themselves. A portion of what they make goes to pay for the upkeep etc of the city. They are not US citizens (until they complete the requirements to become them), but they get to live good lives, have a sense of security, and the assurance their children will be fed etc.

It would require some start up money, but FAR less then is being spent to deport/detain etc people currently. It would of course make more people want to head to those cities, but...as long as each of them could be made profitable, you could just expand and create more and more, until possibly having a city along most of the border.

Can't imagine there isn't a way to make this profitable over all, while still giving people with nothing a better life.
