We began four months ago. Four long, hard months of nominating and bracketmaking and predicting and voting and griping at each other for our general lack of good taste. We began with 192 songs, and ultimately we selected the (second-to-)last one in the bracket.

This marks the second Exa_Pico winner after year 7's champion of EXEC_SPHILIA/., marking the first time a series has won twice (unless you count Dreams of the Shore winning TOC1). However, it is not the first time a publisher has won twice. Square has three winners across different properties and Falcom has two. However, now that we have four winners between Gust and Falcom across the last seven contests, I think it's safe to say those two companies truly are the kings of the board.

So what's next?

If you're the type who will just crawl back into your lurker den until the contest begins again, we'll see you in February! However, it's worth noting that there are always on-going projects and games to keep our VGM interests alive throughout the off-season. Namely...

* There are several on-going ranking threads, including by NFUN, Mycro, Glacier and Gamebop. (I think cako had one, too?)
* Deogenerate is making preparations to revive Best OST. As the originator of that contest before I took over VGMC, I'm very excited to know that we're finally returning to that legacy.

On my own front...

According to the second-to-last poll I ran, everyone would like to see another crowd-sourced guessing game with no particular theme. So I'm going to ask everyone out there -- not just the guessing game regulars, but everyone who wants to submit -- to (privately) give me five songs.

Please remember that we want a decent mix of difficulties overall. While that doesn't mean that you can't give me 5 really easy songs or 5 really hard ones, on average I'd like to see the likelihood that someone will recognize your tracks go (really easy) - (pretty easy) - (average) - (fairly hard) - (intensely difficult).

I'm looking for at least 25 responses!
