The point is to create the impression that the US President is unstable and erratic. So other countries come to the bargaining table and give Trump negotiation wins. There is a reason that under Trump, the US has only once actually fired missiles at an adversary other than the ones we've been in embroiled in conflict with for years. It happened while Trump was having dinner with Xi Jinping at Mar a Lago. A classic power play, showing off how powerful he is that he can order missile strikes during a state dinner. Transparent?
