If fruit is taking you into a calorific surplus it's the rest of your diet that's the problem. It's full of fibre, fills you up and is full of micronutrients.

And it comes with sugar which is one of the main causes of weight gain for a lot of people. It spikes insulin, and can cause your body to stop mobilizing fat. Calories aren't the only thing to be concerned with. Vegetables are more nutrient dense, more fiber, and barely have sugar, if any. A cup of kale has like 2.5 grams of fiber. A cup of grapes has less than 1 gram. Grapes also come with 15 grams of sugar per cup.

Unless you're diabetic 15g is going to have no affect on weight loss if you're in a calorific deficit. Eat both fruit and vegetables. They are very good for you.

One is clearly better than the other, and once again, calories aren't the only thing that matters. I don't even care about this argument, because it ignores bigger issues and specifics to the person. I just came in to correct Saul Goodman.
