Trying to pick up someone while they work is a bad look. how do you know what the cashier wants? maybe you're her dream guy and she'd be upset if you didn't talk to her. i'm not saying to lock into the 5 minute conversation...but as i explicitly said, try testing the waters to see if she's into it. if you compliment her hair color and she launches into a conversation...maybe she's into you and you should continue the conversation. if she says thanks and looks away...you can leave and "only inconvenienced her for 5 seconds". it's not a binary thing. i said you'll have the opportunity for a 4-5 min convo, not that it will happen. --- ...
