Squall has the best character arc in the entire series. Rinoa makes that character arc possible while bringing charm to the game's big moments like the "Eyes on Me" Ragnarok sequence. Bonus points for her being the leader of a resistance group. Zell is 90s Ryuji and criminally underrated. Irvine has swagger and more importantly brings a compelling flaw (chokes in big moments) Quistis is admittedly underdeveloped but compelling and flawed (doubts herself despite being a mentor).
