There is no reason for her to feel threatened, though. The dude is literally in jail, and the cops were going to be taking his guns legally.

Again, he was being released the next day (Joseph Irby was spending one day in jail at the time, accused of ramming into her car after a June 14 divorce hearing) and had already rammed her car with his. You genuinely think there "is no reason for to feel threatened"?

On top of this the article states "Federal law prohibits people under a domestic violence restraining order from possessing guns, but it's up to local law enforcement to enforce it" - the guns may not have been taken/surrendered for some time.

Yes, I genuinely feel that there is no way to feel threatened by a guy who is in jail.

No, I read it perfectly. I'm trying to figure out how him being released the day after she busted into his house and stole his stuff means she had a right to bust into his house and steal his stuff.

Because as a rational person, you think "He's detained right now.. but tomorrow he will be released, and has already tried to hurt me.. he could do a lot more with his guns that without them, especially as the guns might not immediately be surrendered".

Do you genuinely only operate on "today" mentality? I would imagine you'd have trouble functioning if all you ever thought about is "what's true today". For example, if your driver's license was expiring tomorrow... would you wait till tomorrow to get it renewed?

Rational people don't break into their ex's house and steal their shit.

Whether rational people "break into their ex's house and steal their shit." is beside the point, since you were stating you couldn't see why she (or anybody) would feel threatened. Do you still stand by that statement?
