"This president is desperate. Calling out his racism, xenophobia, and misogyny is imperative. But hes trying to divide us and distract from his own crimes, and from his deeply unpopular agenda of letting the wealthy and well-connected rip off the country. We must do more."
than to say
"President Trump is a racist."
Like, this seems to be a "President Obama won't say Islamic Terrorism" level of complaint here.
i'd say there is a difference. especially when, as i pointed out, they never attacked trump for all of his other racist comments (or at least not as harshly). makes it seem as if this was incidental and not a structural problem with trump.
btw, i feel like the misogyny aspect hasn't been discussed enough, at least compared to the racism aspect. why isn't trump saying bernie - who has said shit that's just as radical as omar's stances, if not MORE radical - should leave the country? why has trump even "praised bernie to high heavens," as red sox put it? gee, i wonder what the difference between bernie and omar could possibly be.
Well, Omar is Muslim and Bernie is Jewish. Bernie and Trump were born in the same city (Brooklyn). Bernie has a national following. ---
