It's technically not a social problem because mating isn't necessary

From an economic standpoint, it is.

You don't have to be mating yourself, but a portion of the population NEEDS to be replacing population numbers in order for the economy and most social support programs to effectively function. Nations need babies. And the primary method of producing those offspring (by a large margin) is still old fashioned mating.

A rising trend in people having less sex is not necessarily life-or-death, but it's a valid socioeconomical concern for a number of reasons. Not just because some people are bitter about it.

Population issues can be solved by immigration. Low birth rates are not a problem everywhere and there is no shortage of people looking to move to places with low birth rates.
