According to The Washington Post, the number of adults in the United States who reported having no sex in the last year has reached an all-time high of 23 percent. Citing the latest data from the General Social Survey, the Post reported a much larger than expected number of twenty-something men among the nations sexually inactive adults. According to the survey, the portion of Americans between 18 and 29 reporting no sex in the last year has more than doubled in the last decade, leaping from 8 percent in 2008 up to 23 percent in 2018. Broken down by gender, the data also showed a significant and unprecedented divide between male and female respondents. While the number of women in that age group reporting no sex saw an 8 percent increase in the last 10 years, the number of men reporting the same has nearly tripled to a staggering 28 percent. While the data suggested young Americans are responsible for the sharpest rise of sexlessness, it also revealed a nationwide dry spell. Many, many times I've heard that they prefer dating older guys for all sorts of reasons (usually true). I get more tail now then I ever did in my twenties. For most of these social types of issues, rarely is there one reason, even if one reason tends to take precedent over another. Next, I said what I said and I'm sticking by it. There are plenty enough men out there that are uncomfortable with their women making more than them (and vice versa) that the statement has merit. Particularly when the disparity is large. It's technically not a social problem because mating isn't necessary From an economic standpoint, it is. You don't have to be mating yourself, but a portion of the population NEEDS to be replacing population numbers in order for the economy and most social support programs to effectively function. Nations need babies. And the primary method of producing those offspring (by a large margin) is still old fashioned mating. A rising trend in people having less sex is not necessarily life-or-death, but it's a valid socioeconomical concern for a number of reasons.
