I want traditional turn based RPGs to have much more animation during battles to make them look more exciting.
- Character 1 attacks enemy 1 - Character 2 attacks enemy 1 - Enemy 2 attacks character 1
Thats how it is normally.
- Characters 1 & 2 attack enemy 1 simultaneously - Enemy 2 goes to attack character 2, but character 1 pushes character 2 out the way and character 1 gets hit
It wouldnt be like that all the time, there would be different animations in how a battle plays out, although attacking simultaneously would be the new standard. It would take less time between menu commands than each character and enemy attacking each other in turn. Damage done and status effects would still happen in the same order as they would have done in the old games.
Suikoden sorta did this.
Of course, you had six party members so it was pretty much required lol. ---
