So people don't have any forms of autism, it's just "autism" from now on. It'll be reversed back soon enough, especially for classification purposes. People will want to know what their kids have, not just "autism"

it's not just "autism", it's "autism spectrum disorder". the "spectrum" implies a set of symptoms that don't apply unilaterally to everyone. not really that hard tbh

No one is going to say "my son as Autism Spectrum Disorder. "They're going to say "my son has Autism" just like they do now. It sounds absolutely fucking stupid for one.

"My son's on the autism spectrum" is already a pretty common statement. Same with "high-functioning autistic" and similarly-qualified examples.

Never heard one person say it. Not once. They've shared it on Facebook. But never said those exact words. And I swear it's either contagious or overdiagnosed because every other kid has it now

okay, well you weren't talking about casual conversation, you were talking about the diagnosis. nobody is diagnosed with "autism"

No, now they're going to be diagnosed with just ASD instead of something specific along the ASD like Asperger's. And eventually they'll go back to the old system of being more specific because people will want specific information and answers
