It's Roy who's popular for no reason other than being put in Melee as an advertisement that people (hilariously) got attached to. Smash is definitely the bulk of Ike's popularity. His games sold like utter shit, he doesn't have a big fanbase from them (they're also on systems that are much more taxing to emulate than most of the series, so he's not pulling in extra fans that way).
