I always took it as one of two things.

1. The brain was wired for them to be a the opposite sex

2. their body didn't grow the proper sex organ for their body.

It is a genetic mess up either way. Doesn't mean they should be treated as less then human. But the conversaiton of how to handle the situation is needed. I also don't think we have the technology to properly handle the situation. We can't exactly switch someones organs and have them function as normal, you can't switch what you were born with unfortunately. I also feel some don't really have the problem and are just mentally unstable, want attention, or some other mental gymnastics reason. The question is how to tell these people apart from the ones that have a genetic issue. It also should be a lot more then just let people do what they want. Unfortunately we just lack the proper research as this is a new issue.
