It's interesting to me that, after Cutie Honey's limited exposure in the west failed, the "niche" that Cutie Honey filled (action-packed magical girl show primarily marketed to male viewers) never got another chance in the west until much later when Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha came over... and that one failed in the west too. Puella Magi Madoka Magica was the one that finally broke the barrier and was well-received by western anime fans.

Yep it really is quite interesting. Fun as CH is, I can see how and why Madoka was the one to really blow up. People love a good shocking twist and I'd rather watch that spin than a typical mook of the week work. All about timing and content in the end.

So why do you think Lyrical Nanoha didn't succeed in the west? I know only the original season and A's were ever dubbed, then they didn't bother with it for StrikerS onward.
