Think of it this way... in your life, you can only view yourself as the main character of life in general. To 99.9999999999% of the rest of the world, you are an NPC. That goes for everyone. It might be harder for you than others, but its on you to make others notice you more. Try to engage with others more, even if its a simple compliment that you give to someone that you otherwise wouldnt. If you see something that someone else has or does that might hint at them having something in common with you, make a quick comment on it. If it strikes up a conversation, great - if it doesnt, then youre just in the same place with that person as you previously were at.
