The supernatural possession IS the reason. And that's no different than just "Oh the Undertaker is immortal because he is." You're just trying to attach more rules to some stupid supernatural gimmick that you aren't attaching to other stupid supernatural gimmicks. Rejecting the supernatural gimmick as stupid makes sense, and then, yes, your argument would make sense, since it'd just be "Bray Wyatt got stronger out of nowhere."
