I used to want kids because I like kids. Like at any family gathering everyone is sitting around talking and I'm the one running around chasing the two-year-old. But I've come to realize I don't want the responsibility of having my own kid; I value my free time too much. I respect parents too much to become one.

It helps to a) have grandparents around to help with daycare and b) be able to work from home.

I have no idea how anyone can handle 5 days of day care a week (emotionally and financially)

My co-worker with infant twins had a full-time in-house nanny. She also worked from home two days a week, but I think that was more convenience for her not having to commute and stuff. She would basically hide in the study so the kids didn't know she was home while the nanny took care of them, else she couldn't really get anything done.
