Yes but if you don't want to do NM raids/ex/spend 100k+ gil it's the only way to get a decent weapon. Plus, the first step is...usually not that bad? Depending on how hard they make it, it's generally an okay way to get a reasonable weapon to start with. We know next to nothing about this relic but I think it's supposed to at least have a unique trial? So I'm not expecting it to be too bad.
