Like maybe at a young age something happened and they were able to block out their ancestors, and then because of their avatar powers they just got corrupted and power hungry over time. I forgot how it works but they would need some way to assume direct control over the avatar state and bypass their ancestors or whatever. Bend them to their will. And then yeah just get a bunch of followers and declare war on the world. But they would have to be willing to kill and be ruthless in doing so. Im not sure if nickelodeon would allow that.
