Back when the virus first started getting bad, they tried to keep things under wraps but the news kept getting out. The government tried to crack down and censor them but the news was getting out there. Taiwan was already moving to keep the disease from spreading when 2020 started. There's just no way China could be posting numbers this low if it were still raging at anything like the rate in America.
