Im not sure whether to be concerned or delighted.

On one hand, this feels like a first amendment violation that, if succesful, might encourage the US administration to limit or ban other social media apps and platforms for "national security" reasons.

On the other hand, fuck China's subversive data collecting spyware disguised as a fun and harmless video sharing app!

i feel you on those concerns -- just look at how the feds have abused the Patriot Act to basically spy on anyone for any reason. but i do think TT is a steamy pile of garbage that should not be used by anyone.

for me to be totally comfortable with something like this i think the gov't needs to be very transparent on why they are banning the app. i'd like to see technical demonstrations / explanations of why the app is bad or dangerous and those should be published for the public to see.
