#1:

It's time for Raetsel's third annual music ranking topic! There are a few twists this year, so please read the full list of rules & options before nominating.

0: To avoid any overlap with NFUN's "Board 8 Ranks Trails/Kiseki" topic, please do not nominate anything from the Trails in the Sky trilogy or Crossbell duology, or any remixes of those songs.

0a: Songs from other Legend of Heroes games are allowed, provided they're not remixes of songs blocked by Rule 0.

1: Nominations will be open until Saturday, September 12th. This will hopefully give everyone who wants to participate a reasonable amount of time.

2: There is no maximum number of songs that can be nominated. While previous years had fixed amounts (200 & 300), this year we'll be rolling with however many get nominated.

2a: As such, if you're reading this message early, you shouldn't feel rushed to get noms in quickly. As long as you get them in before the 12th, they will be counted, so take as much time to think about your noms as you want.

...unless you're just reading this message on the 11th, in which case, do panic. (Or at least ask to be given a time extension. I'm flexible.)

3: Songs may be from YouTube, Spotify, Bandcamp, Soundcloud, or any other site that can be accessed from my phone.

4: There are three nomination paths available: Chaos, Neutrality, and Order. Choose whichever one suits you!

CHAOS

You can nominate up to 15 songs with no restrictions! Commercial jingles, VGM, mash-ups, whatever. Whether you wish to use this absolute freedom to nominate 15 completely unique tracks or 15 versions of the same song, Chaos offers you the freedom to do anything!

...except nominate songs blocked by Rule 0, even the Lords of Chaos have some standards.

NEUTRALITY

You can nominate 1 album (with up to an hour and a half of music) and 7 extra songs! For those who want to nominate a standard length album for me to listen to, but also want the freedom of nominating a bunch of songs, there is the path of absolute balance.

Albums can be those actually released in stores, digital albums, or any soundtrack that could plausibly fit on one standard audio CD--even if said soundtrack was never officially released, as long as it does not exceed an hour and a half, I'll count it as "close enough to an album for ranking purposes".

[As this is still an individual song ranking topic, it would be appreciated if you gave me album links where each song can be listened to separately. A link to the album on Spotify, Bandcamp, a YouTube playlist, something like that. Putting the entire album in one very long video is discouraged, but allowed if that's the only way you can find it available.]

ORDER

You can nominate one deluxe album (with up to three hours of music) -or- 2 regular albums by the same artist! Be a Guardian of Order & go all-in with music from one artist or band.

You have some wiggle room with "same artist"--you could nominate a Beatles album & a John Lennon solo album, because of course you can nominate "artist when he was with a group" and "artist before he joined group/after he left group"--or two albums released under the same band name, even if completely different band members are performing under that name.

Just don't try to do anything ludicrous like "The Protomen & The Megas because they're both Mega Man related" because those are blatantly not the same band.

5: You don't have to use every available nomination, though it's cool if you do.

6: There is no "preferred format" for nominations this time. So long as it's clear what you're nominating, we're good.

7: Since I'm going to listen to every song at least twice before I post any rankings and have at least a beta write-up for all songs prepared, there's probably going to be quite a delay between the end of nominations and the start of the ranking. Please understand.

8: If you would like to be given @ notifications during the topic, please tell me how frequently you want them (just one when the ranking starts ; one whenever one of your songs is eliminated ; one whenever I'm talking about one of your songs even in an unrelated write-up).

9: Try not to take any ranking or write-up too seriously. Every nomination is greatly appreciated and treasured, even if I don't properly show that in every post.

And as always, thank you for your time.
