Mine was like upper tier when I built it 8 years ago, now it's low end. Still better playing on PC. And yeah, everything is moving towards digital only PC which is what I want but it's taking far longer than I hoped. Every console generation keeps being billed as the final one but then they come out with new shit.
I think for MS there are no more gens. The MS store is basically Steam with video content now. The cutoff will be outdated hardware with too-low specs, as is the case with PC. I can't see MS dropping Xbox now unless sales nosedive.

Nintendo has been doing its own thing since the Wii. I don't see that ever changing. They'll maybe go up and down in popularity, but I can't see their business model outright dying anytime soon. Maybe once Millennials are mostly dead of old age, but not before that.

Sony is the one that's sort of a worry. They're sticking with traditional formulas the most, when that seems obsolete. It feels like they're playing catch-up with PSNow and b/c a lot. I think seeing the shift too late is why they finally started putting stuff onto PC. I think the PS5 will be rad, but their "we dunno if it'll be the last PS" seems like a pretty honest prediction from them right now. But I mean people really need to stop comparing them to MS. MS made like $125B in profits last year. Sony made $6B in profits. When Phil Spencer said Amazon and Google are MS's competition, monetarily he's right.
