But then anime loses a LOT of points because most intros have literally nothing to do with the actual series they're the opening them to, and include tons of batshit lyrics and gratuitous English (and they have a tendency to age really poorly). Depends entirely on the show. Especially old Super Robot shows have songs about the main robot, listing of its attacks. Many shows have lyrics completely unrelated, but still have music that really sets and fits the tone. One that really set the tone well, are fully in English and even fit somewhat lyrically, are the openings to the old LoGH/Ginei-Den series.
