I don't think most people would care that much, since Maddox never really attention whored. I mean he might now, as a writer, but he grew his audience largely by word of mouth. Once he started to slow down and become more refined as a satire writer it's understandable he kind of went by the wayside. His work matured, and while his writing can still be interesting, you come to realize how much of it was for shock value and edginess. It was new ground in the 90's and early 2000's, but any asshole can do that now.

Maddox was just the first well known one to do it at the time, and amazingly principled.

oh, i have no doubt that some people don't know who maddox is (as crazy as that is to me). the question is if the people going "who?" are legitimately interested to know who he is or if they just want to go "lol i'm too cool to care about your stupid internet celebrity bullshit."
