| Snake5555555555 01/06/21 1:25:45 PM #9: | January 6, 2021 Refused - Worms of the Senses/Faculties of the Skull https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1eC8de9QG0 The opening track to the incredible influential "Shape of Punk to Come", this dual-hitting track combines rebellious violent hardcore punk lyrics with an instrumentally progressive sound, with spidery riffs that are pure candy for the ear, incredible jazz-influenced drumming, and capping it all off with some electronic/techno sounds near the end. With references to poetry and iconoclasm, Refused open the track with a goosebumps-inducing spoken word piece befoe launching into tirades against the capitalistic machine and using humans as mere cogs in said machine. The vocal delivery is as angry as it is anguished and passionate, you can feel the emotion lift up together with the instruments in a way that just feels cathartic.
