| Noumena 03/20/21 4:10:28 AM #2: | Because the idea is to have different roles filled out by different types of people. If women do what men traditionally did, then there are less people to do what women traditionally do, unless the men start picking up the slack there. Structural functionalism is kind of ugly when you look at it from a realist perspective by taking into account the fact the some roles, even thought they might be necessary, are just undesirable or a raw deal, which is just to say there will always be losers.
