On a really good launch (for me) of a new book I'll make maybe 2/5s of my income from my main job back that year. Obviously by writing more books the longtime payments are increasing, but they're still very small after the initial bump. That sounds pretty good. Have you been able to negotiate better contracts as you go or is it usually the same deal?
