I could imagine Winter Soldier blending in if you watch the entire series at once, but at the time of its release it was a big game changer that upped the quality of the franchise a lot imo. It came out right after the franchise was lagging with more sub-standard films, and there's a reason why the directors were asked to direct Infinity War/Endgame.

I mean, it's such a solid movie regardless, but I think the nature of the film at that time was a pleasant surprise. People didn't care for MCU Cap that much before it.

2014 was really a key year

In the space of two movies they both showed they could perfect the formula and make really good sequels (after IM2 and Thor 2 weren't great), and that they could achieve great success with something much more weird and lesser-known like GotG.

Idk if it was "peak MCU" or anything but I know I personally started caring more about the connectivity around that time (the destruction of Shield was a really surprising move - it had been such a foundation even since the first IM, and had me thinking about the consequences). Possibly that's where it reached...adolescence? Or something? It felt like a turning point.
