I mean ANYONE can dress up as any character or person they want so it's not limited to race. It seems some of your coworkers and friends are just being offended for the sake of it. Although I will say dressing up as anything other than spooky stuff on Halloween always irks me. I guess the issue is that they were telling me that solely because of my race.
