I'm in good shape actually, I was originally overwieght (not by a ton but a good 30-40 pounds more than was healthy). I had this great idea that loosing weight and exercising would help get my blood sugars under control since diet alone was not doing it.

After loosing 40 pounds though, my levels actually went freaking up, so i have mostly given up at this point. I'm maintaining my weight (I could still lose about 10 more pounds if I really worked at it), but honestly it doesn't make a difference and my kidneys are going now (along with severe eyesight problems etc). Ain't anything I can do about it. I can try a few alternative drugs like Victosa, but that has a history of hurting the kidneys and isn't recomended with someone who already has stage 3 kidney disease, so it might help my blood sugars in the short run, but increase the speed my kidneys go.

I have no intention of doing Dialysis, so when they get bad enough (about nother 50% drop...you can avoid dialysis till your at about 3% filtration and i'm at about 53% right now), I'll just die. Could be a few years, could be shorter.

My wife had a similar issue and died due to an infection in her heart because they couldn't get her blood sugars under control either (she was in the hospital due to kidney failure and under dialysis (which she wasn't able to get fast enough so they sent her to another hospital in Oregon).

I've done the whole get healthy, eat no carbs etc etc, it didn't work. I still avoid carbs, I take my pills etc, but I've pretty much given up on it getting better unless they come out with a new medication in the next year or so.
