It's different to how I thought it would be. Tinder and other apps, apparently, are mostly viewing profiles in a row and swiping left or right. The way Grindr works, you have a bunch of pictures displayed together, starting with people geographically nearest to you, and getting further away, and after reading their profile you can either message or tap them (the latter shows you like the person). The people seem pretty open and outgoing, which stands to reason for an LGBT hook-up app. I'm disappointed at how many people "cheat", by uploading a semi-nude picture, but without the face showing. There are plenty of cute and good-looking guys there, which is actually kinda intimidating. Relatively young, too, with many in their 20s. I've already messaged a few guys I liked the look of, and gotten some responses. No offers to meet up, though.

The design features seem fine. You can view pictures, talk, and so on. There appear to be plenty of premium options, but the basic stuff seems more than enough for a person to connect with other people. There is something SLIGHTLY creepy and weird, though. The stuff the guys are up for. Also, although I have a good grasp of LGBT and sex slang, there are terms I don't quite, uh, get. Uh. I know what tops and bottoms are, of course, but I don't know what a ver bottom is. Also, wtf at the term "bear". Some of this is scary.

I do worry that, despite the common sensibility that Grindr is incredibly easy to get laid on, I won't be good or cool enough for the people there, or something. I dunno. I'm very average, plus my long-haired look doesn't seem representative of the average guy on there. Geographically speaking, however, I've already seen at least 20 or 30 guys within walking distance of where I live.

Thoughts on this?

Ver or verse means they are versatile and will top or bottom. So a ver bottom means he prefers to bottom but will top. Bear means older, hairy, and/or chubby.
