This is the true crime of Walmart and other large chains.

They waste SOOO much food:
- Fresh food not sold by the end of the day? Trash.
-Food slightly past date? Trash.
-Slightly damaged packaging? Trash.
-Cold food a customer left out or put in the freezer? Trash.

You get caught eating it or taking it home? Fired.
They just dont care because their suppliers will reimburse them for lost goods.

Government should mandate that all food should at least be given to the less fortunate or poor, with immunities from lawsuits.
You do understand that all of those bullet points are a result of liability and government food safety regulation right? There's no way to know how long something was left out so it's safest to assume it's unsafe and trash it. And actually, a lot of dented cans get marked down for a while before they get trashed.

As to your dumbass point about donating food that's "slightly past date", a company tried that once. People threw a massive bitch fit about it because it was seen as them giving away trash and hoping the people getting it were too dumb to read a label.
