#123: DEMONDICE, Romonosov? - Speak of Devil (4:12):
https://open.spotify.com/track/43dQfUCIuquMaerB6TfNb1?si=53c55fefdd0f4b40

Nominator: Murphiroth [2/32 Remaining]

Initial Score: 73.15 [later upgraded to 100]
Revised Score: 63.92
FInal Score: 81.09

(First Reaction: You'd think I wouldn't be into this song, with the endlessly repeating siren noise & rampant profanity, but repeatedly shouting fuck is kinda where I am mentally at the moment and taking shots at social media stars ain't exactly bad either. And while I can't find any trace of what Romonsov?'s verses are, I seem to like him more than the guests on 21st Century Haters.)

[Later: This is officially the first song that I couldn't wait to hear again and went back to before the first round of rankings were over.

Fuck a time, fuck a place, fuck a fuckin human race
Fuck a clever rhyme, just a "fuck" will do just fuckin' fine

And while I know the song is satire and you're really not supposed to take 'fuck humanity & fuck putting effort into writing' as a literal thing, ya know, it's rather what I want to hear right now. And while I probably shouldn't give it a perfect score because of that blasted siren blaring throughout the song, I'm going to jump the score up to the full 100 points anyway, because there is a pretty good chance that I go ahead and let this song win. It would be the bleakest song ranking ever on the board's history if it wins based on those lyrics, but I want to entertain the possibility and seriously consider it for a while.]

!Definitely a song I need to be in the right mood for... tonight that siren is so overpowering and I'm not quite in the mood for anger that this is a bit of a miss; not to say I regret its initial placement because there are days when it might be my favorite, but that day is not today.

[Final Thoughts: Give me a version of this song without the siren and this might win, but as is... it's really hard to give this as many points as it deserves when that incessant noise occasionally renders the song completely unlistenable. I'm going to move this back up to the 80 point tier because I do love this... sorta...]

[Later: That came off way more negative than I imagine I meant it to. It was a song in serious contention for the first place and while the choice of the siren definitely holds it back, it's still something I kinda love and rated above hundreds of other songs.]

#122: Closure in Moscow - Pink Lemonade (8:14):
https://youtu.be/XOW3JAZ9MoQ

Nominator: NBIceman [4/22 Remaining]

Initial Score: 78.13
Revised Score: 79.06
Final Score: 81.11

(First Reaction:

As the song ends the fabric of space/time starts glitching around him, and it becomes apparent that he was being sung to directly as the Tacky Ornamental Slut is now enveloping him as he starts phase-shifting through the room into the space between space.

This song is a trip. intentionally so and in the best possible way. Random samples from The Sound of Music, music that varies enough that you never know where it's going, and I think I'll have to listen to the album this came from eventually. I cheated and looked at the last song to get a feel for where the album was heading. Sadly, that ending is exactly the type of thing I'd have loved to be surprised by. Curse my lack of patience. Still seems worth to listening to the album anyway.)

!It's a fun trip.

[Final Thoughts: A musical acid trip that is one of the best progressive rock songs to ever be nominated for this series. Varied and experimental in an approachable way.]

#121: Powerman 5000 - When Worlds Collide (2:57):
https://open.spotify.com/track/6aF5JtQSrh7wNrkDE9B0My?si=2d43584fdf164cfa

Nominator: CPU [3/30 Remaining]

Initial Score: 63.46
Revised Score: 73.46
Final Score: 81.30

(First Reaction: I had an odd fascination with this song when I heard it in whichever Tony Hawk game it was. I tended to hate the louder & harsher songs from the game, but this one I'd always be a bit glad to hear. Now, it makes a bit of sense--lyrics that don't entirely make sense, references to robots & the Devil & the end of time, how utterly tame the song is compared to so many other songs I've listened to at these topics... in retrospect, this was one of the more obvious ways to ease me into harder rock music.)

!I think I'm going to move this up a full 10 points on the grounds that I've had this song stuck in my head since Pro Skater 2, which says a lot about its enduring quality & blah blah blah yackity smackity.

[Final Thoughts: I think I have enough nostalgia that I kinda love this track, actually.]
