I agree with your former point but I don't think anyone at YT/Google is advocating for extremist content lol It's unfortunate what happened but given the sheer volume of content that gets uploaded, they can't personally evaluate everything, and some things will inevitably slip through the cracks here and there. From what I understand, the recommendation system is based on the user's preferences and whatever content is recommended isn't personally endorsed by YT. YT losing the suit would just make any sites allowing user-generated content worse for everyone.
