It's quite remarkable how lobbyist groups like the NRA have such a tight grip on a sizeable portion of the political figures in DC and across the States.

What's more remarkable is how deeply indoctrinated their voters are, to the point that the fear of a repeal of 2A (which very few have called for) has them quaking in their boots any time regulation is brought up in conversation.

How they conflate regulation with full repeal and "They're taking our guns!" pearl-clutching reveals how stunted they are in their understanding, and how grossly lacking in empathy they are for the victims of gun violence and the desire for a solution to end said violence, particularly when paired with the fact that so few Conservatives support universal health care with increased access to mental health services
