In most stories you would get the bad guy trying to convince Josh to kill the good guys and get surprised when he refuses. Here Alba places Josh where he can be found by Cassius, expecting Cassius to want to redeem Josh, and expecting him to pull it off. They are savvy enough to know love can conquer evil, and they use that to fulfill their plan.
