When I went off to college, I finally decided to delve into emulati- I MEAN BUY A BUNCH OF GAMES THAT SOMEHOW ALL FIT ON ONE DS CART, and Pokemon Platinum was one of the games I LEGALLY PURCHASED. It definitely scratched an itch that I'd had since I gave the series a break, but it was still just pretty mindless. The Champion fight was pretty rough, but you only get to do that once, IIRC. But oh hey, this version has a bunch of cool post-game content! That's new to me! Man, the Battle Frontier did not pull its punches. I was getting dunked on pretty hard, but a few tries into the Battle Tower, in comes Palmer with a sweet speech, and then holy shit what is this music?! Every time I thought I had heard the best part, a new one comes in and keeps outdoing it. Like, the little section from 0:35-0:50 is about the only time you get a break. The rest is just crazy! From that moment on, I was just... completely hooked. I looked up how to breed for IVs, EV train, what team compositions were the best, everything. I can basically blame this song for me still being a Pokemon fan 15 years later. ----- 3. Mass Inquisition ~ Allegro https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21zoAtnZEvM Surprise! Pokemon ain't the only series with a spinoff on my list! This was what I meant when I kinda had two versions of one song I wanted to include. But really, this is just AA1's Allegro but with half Layton. And it's perfect. The very best of both worlds. I really like the usual AA part, but that Layton half is somehow even better. ----- 3. New World Order https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3EHCTP3jic Masafumi Takada is really, really good at getting the most out of 3 notes, isn't he? A track so simple and great it gets center stage in all 3 games. .... Yes all 3 games. There aren't any more than that. ----- 3. Nell's Theme https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rVU-tVaaO8 Nell probably got the biggest boost from the reboot. Her theme was fine in the original, but turning it into a dance mix was not something I was aware I wanted. The added bells near the beginning do a lot. Is it because she plays the role of teacher?
