I feel like two of my #1 choices should be pretty obvious, from their omission from the top 10's otherwise. This is one of them. It's the perfect battle theme for the perfect fight. I can't imagine it'll ever be topped. You'd need a similarly overbearing champion and somehow an even more tension-filled track. That's a really tall order. The crescendo from 0:28-0:39 is chilling. Someone made a Beat Saber map for this song, and it might be my favorite map to play of all-time. This tune has true multi-talent.

This one, not so obvious. A big underrated aspect of the Investigations games is its shake-ups of the testimony themes. You still get your usual Moderato and Allegro, but then when shit is getting super real, they whip out the ol' Presto, which is nothing like the other two. This one ratchets the tension up to 12, and gets my head a-boppin' every time. Especially the final bridge to start the loop over from 0:51-0:58. I can't stop my foot from tapping to that irregular beat every time I listen to it.

Yeah, another fairly obvious one. My entry to Danganronpa, as many people's were in the West, I'd imagine, was the Something Awful threads *looks them up* what the fuck, 15 years ago?! OK, well, anyway, they got all the way through the first game and had started the second, I believe getting through the investigation phase of the third chapter, when Spike announced they were localizing them. Out of respect for them, they immediately stopped the Let's Play so people would be more likely to support the official release.

You bet your ass I was in that GameStop (in retrospect, not sure why I'm surprised this was 15 years ago) day 1 to pick up my reserved copy. The lady behind the counter heard the name of the game and was just like... "uh, can you repeat that?" I played through the 2 1/2 case I knew well, got swerved by the emotional 4th case, and then absolutely blindsided by the reveal of the dead body in the 5th case.

If that wasn't enough, as soon as those Investigation Phase words left my screen, this starts playing. Now, I already think Homicide is the best investigation music in the series, so when the guitar comes in so hot and heavy, I immediately stopped advancing dialogue just to take in what's happening in my ears. When 1:09 hit, I thought I was gonna faint from bliss. Little did I know I was about to jump into my single favorite murder mystery of all-time. Nagito, you absolute madman, you.

1. Andy's Theme

Not to take away from the incredible job the team did with the Reboot Camp soundtrack, but it's simply impossible to improve upon perfection. I think the limited capabilities of the GBA hardware actually helped when making this song. The variety in instruments, especially that fuckin' slap bass goin' crazy, just lends itself beautifully to this track. There isn't a single part of this song that doesn't get me grooving and my head swaying.
