FFXVI ending stuff:
Yeah, there's Clive telling Harpocrates that he'd write in the fiture. The clearest proof is with Jill though. In particular that when the dawn breaks you will come back to me part. This is clear if you have played the flower field sidequest with her. The star disappearing would then mean that her wish was finally granted. Her reaction also says it all and is the reason it can't be Joshua. She would not have the same reaction to seeing Joshua coming back. Also I don't see why Clive didn't just lose a hand maybe arm like Cid did. The whole game is also narrated by Clive so it ending with a book from him to what is likely his descendants makes the most sense. But yeah the symbolism stuff is the big proof, there's is no way that would be there if it was not specfically Clive coming back to Jill.
I thought he died too until the postgame credit scene where I didn't even consider he could be dead any longer and have been very surprised at how accepted that is around the internet.
