Is this a personal preference you are set on or is this an experiment?

It's pretty set, I mentioned before but bot contests have been doing it since SMFFFC2 demonstrated the need. Without it these contests become completely reliant on trades to make it through and this can lead to really long stalls when people don't do it (glaring straight at Rikku savers)

It's also a preference I like, this way participants can actually just save their favourites. I've never enjoyed watching people left hanging without a trade and I don't think I'm alone as people often try to lend a hand opening up their trades into three-way trades. It's all such a big mess - this way trading still has its use, but it doesn't take over the game.

Hell, for my first many years participating in smfffc I outright refused to trade, so yeah I definitely prefer people just saving their favs

They'd probably be about equal effort, the removing option would have me recalculating image resolutions dependent on the # remaining

overlaying a transparent X pattern overtop an image in python isn't much of a problem
