Yeah you're right. A-Marowak had as good a chance as any other variant I suppose, but I couldn't in good conscience move to it when Slash was still there. I personally feel like it was a solid top 6, but we got the order all wrong. It should've gone more like...

As someone who helped carry Sandslash to the final had it faced off against Marowak at the end that is where my Slash support would've ended.

Marowak Grimer and Rattata are the three I think improve upon the original the most. It's a shame Alolan Raticate looks so dumb you'd have a solid line there.

But Alolan Sandslash is better than normal Sandslash and normal Sandslash is awesome to begin with so it's a strong #1 from me. I do think the "most improved" angle is worth considering though.

Alolan Rattata is definitely an improvement, but no one would help me support the tiny mustache once Ziggy quit. Who'dda thunk he cared so much more about Sandshrew than Rattata? Not me! I think the other two are more lateral moves than improvements personally, but while Kanto Grimer is mediocre, Kanto Sandslash is indeed awesome so I had no qualms with voting for its Alolan variant over forms that I felt were actual improvements.

Anyway I am really pulling for Galarian Ziggy for the next one.
