You're assuming how those mechanics work.

Because you can fly in the orbit of a planet like they showed.

If you could fly towards and land on the planet by flying through the atmosphere and landing manually why wouldn't they show that? That's a major feature.

It implies there are hundreds of planets to explore and land on which there are.

You're making the conclusion all of this is done manually despite it never being said once in the entire 40 minute presentation.

You can explore the galaxy in Mass Effect yes?
