The way I see it, it's the exact opposite.

If the afterlife is what matters, and this life is just dirty rags, the short time you spend here becomes meaningless outside of attempting to get your God to pass a positive judgement on you.

If you believe this is all we have, you are more likely to make the most of the little time you have. If you believe this is just a cosmic "test" before the real existence, you don't have to worry about regret - and if you are a Christian, it's not even your responsibility to seek forgiveness for your transgressions against others, that's for God to do.

On the other hand, if were capable of reflecting on life during an afterlife, that might make the limited time here even more important.
